Amjad Farid Sabri

With his tall, burly frame, glossy locks and a tiny circle of gold glinting at his ear, Amjad Farid Sabri naturally commands attention. But when he starts singing, it is his rich baritone that captures one completely. The voice is new, yet strangely familiar. Indeed, it is hardly surprising that the son of the legendary Ghulam Farid Sabri has inherited the quality of his father’s voice and talent for qawwali.

According Amjad Sabri, The qawwali is inextricably linked to the sufi tradition; Sufism is a mystical school of Islamic thought which strives to attain truth and divine love by direct personal experience. In Arabic, this mysticism is known as tasawwuf. The difference between Sufism and mainstream islam is simple. All Muslims believe that man is on a path to God (tariqah). However where the mainstream Muslim believes that it is only possible to reach God during ones life. To this end there are a number of different techniques and methods.

Importance of 14th August:

Asking about the importance of 14th August in our life, Amjad Sabri bluntly said the bitter truth that he used to celebrate the independence day with full gist and enthusiasm  in his childhood days. The environment created in the night of 13th August was amazing in earlier days. Amjad along with his friends used to decorate their houses and streets with Pakistani Flags. National Songs were played and people used to dress up accordingly in green and white wardrobes. But unfortunately now days, the whole scenario has been changed. The independence day come and passes just as an ordinary day. The situation of our country has restricted people to stay at their homes rather they celebrating the day of independence. Unfortunately, a serious lack of patriotism is present in our nation. Amjad appeals to all the Pakistanis that we have to get united as early as possible to regain our power and to get success in this world.

1st Qawal Academy of Pakistan:

Amjad Farid Sabri along with the efforts of Furqan Haider have finally set up the 1st ever Qawal Academy of Pakistan. The Academy is located in heart of Karachi. Amjad Sabri told that, he was requesting the government since long for the set up of Qawal Academy in Karachi. Finally, Amjad Sabri has came up with the 1st Qawal Academy of Pakistan with the support of City Government Karachi (CDGK).

The Qawal Academy also includes a huge cinema (750 persons). Latest Movies are going to be show reeled here along with all time classic Dramas of Pakistan. A professional theater is also being set up in this project. The Academy not just offers Qawali courses as it also offers acting, singing and hosting courses. According to Amjad, this academy is going to play a vital role in the revival of or cinema industry.
