Kaavish
Kaavish is a Pakistani band that was formed in 1999 by Jaffer Zaidi and Maaz Maudood. The band released their debut single ‘Bachpan’ on the internet in 2002 which soon hit the radio waves all over the country. In 2005 the band emerged out of the underground with the released of Bachpan’s video on music channels nation wide and overseas. The song quickly made it’s way up on the top ten charts on various music channels and gained popularity amongst the masses. Consequently, they released three more videos for their songs ‘Choti Khushiyaan’, ‘Tere Pyaar Main’ and ‘Moray Sayyaan’ directed by Umar Amanullah, Umar Anwar and Sohail Javed respectively.
Debut Album
In 2007 the band started recording their debut album Gunkali at Faisal Rafi’s studio (Silent Music Studio). The band was soon signed up by Fire Records. The album features the top most musicians in the country as they have played, recorded and contributed towards the creation of this album.
The fourth video of the band of the song “Moray Sayyaan”, which has been shot in Lahore and features well known artists Samina Peerzada and Faisal Qureshi has been released.
Fire Records released Kaavish’s debut album “Gunkali” in January 2010.
The News Instep Today and Dawn Images have declared Kaavish’s debut album to be the most anticipated album of 2009. Kaavish’s music does not target a specific market but appeals to audiences from the age of 7 to 70 and is anxiously awaited amongst the fan base they have acquired over a period of seven years.
Gunkali was released in Pakistan on the 15th of January 2010 and remained the Top Selling Album for 5 weeks as of 7th March 2010 (Stats provided by Laraib Music Karachi).
