Jupiters

Jupiters were a band based in Lahore, Pakistan, famous for being a breeding ground for many famous Pakistani singers. The band itself gained attention as the most wanted party band in Lahore in the early 90s and later released their hit song ‘Chala dey ja nishani’. It wasn’t long after the song, that Jupiters disbanded.

Early years

Jupiters started out in the 1980s covering mostly American pop/rock songs and quickly became amous as a party band. Even though it was much in demand it changed musicians frequently. jupiters early vocalist was Ali azmat who is a singer working solo now. After Ali left the band, Irfan kiyani took the charge and jupiters manager Naeem Saeed released their second album SHAM KA ANCHAL,, which means the veil of evening. In that album Irfan Kiyani who is the brother of famous pakistani female singer Hadiqa Kiyani was the vocalist, Dannuy Williams was on the drums, Toqeer Hussain was on bass, Kannan Rashid was on keyboards and Majid Hussain was on lead guitars. Another vocalist that worked with the band is Bilal Hafeez. Jupiter used roland drum machine first time in pakistan, which gave a different sound to their music.

Disbanding and legacy

The band disbanded in late 1990s and is remembered as the biggest party band in the city of Lahore. It is also remembered for its hit Punjabi song ‘Chala dey ja nishani’.

  • Ali Azmat, the future lead singer of the legendary sufi/rock band ‘Junoon’.
  • Jawad Ahmed, one of the most famous Punjabi singers in pakistan.
