The Inclination by Laiq Qureshi and Shargeel Zafar

…..to speak out, feel, express, choose. The solitary figure of man or beast, deliberating the impetus to act and to feel the effect of doing so, which is created in painstaking detail on repeated surfaces.  Sharing the space are graphically generated images of protagonists in a decorative world, full of design, text and layers of detail. The exhibition juxtaposes of two practices referencing common issues, one using traditional media and tools while the other explores artistic boundaries with technology.

LAIQ QURESHI:

Laiq Qureshi explains in his own words about digital technology saying that, as they move towards the digital technology in order to give rise to the digital art through his creativity which is the aspect of his daily life and also includes the artists from the west digital art or rather in the New Media Arts which has been around for a while now and has been considered as the new “in”, and also in the South Asia which has been vastly experimented.

Laiq Quershi has been creating digital art with the help of a computer software .He have been practicing for quiet sometime. He considers his computer screen as his canvas and also refers his various software as tools. He has also detailed some patterns, textures and painstakingly works by using different elements of calligraphic text, which are more symbolic, or ornamentation then his invoking thought.

The commentary about his work is almost miniaturist in style and also feels the “digital paintings. “All his work are executed on photographic paper and are unique in his own style as he does not treat them as prints nor  they have editions.

Laiq Quershi has presented his Digital art creation in the Exhibition called The Inclination. His accomplishments on the following Digital painting which was done mostly on photo paper and the names are DARBAR. COURT OF PLAYER I and II, AHRAM DIGITAL PAINTING, DIVISION I and II, TIME TRAIL, TIME TRAIL II, RECORD DIGITAL PAINTING, LONESOME SONG, DREAM and FIRST LOVE.

SHARGEEL ZAFAR:

Shargeel Zafar wants to talk about a common man who dreams peaceful in a pure world and ignores the real world in which he suffered from all miseries and pain. The overall execution of this series explores the intricacies of the dark and desperate world and sheds light on his complex situation.

This working system of a body which revolves around the inner feelings and mind-set of his subject: the common man of this society, which exists within him and every person living.

Basically, his surrounding has inspired him with many contradicting shades of society to which he belong to. But when it comes down to translation of his thoughts, the choice of medium could only be the last resort. He wanted to talk about the journey of a man which is a process of exploration and risks. Finally, this various thought inspired him to experiment with his medium and techniques as he goes along.

HIs work shows the inner frustrations of a man who has his eyes shut from the reality that is destroying him from relentless consistency causing him to suffer pain and maybe pleasure at times, which also includes unconscious, subconscious or conscious…  eyes which is widely open, which is right and what should be ?…

Further more Shargeel Zafar as a Charcoal artist created his magnificent piece of art and allowing himself to present it in the Exhibition of The Inclination. His following masterpiece which was done mostly by using marker on a paper and that are TERMITE 2 AND 3, UNTITLED MIXED MEDIA,, THOUGHT WATER COLOR AND MARKER ON PAPER, PILGRIM MIX MEDIA, VULTURE WATERCOLOR AND MARKER ON PAPER, JAB WATERCOLOR AND MARKER ON PAPER, ESCAPE CHARCOAL ON PAPER, MOCKING CREATURE WATERCOLOR AND MARKER ON PAPER, WISE BEAST CHARCOAL ON PAPE, IMAGE WATERCOLOR AND MARKER ON PAPER AND UNTILED MIXED MEDIA.
