Restoration of Sadeqain’s mural begins
The Lahore Museum has started restoration work on historical mural of renowned artist Faqeer Muhammad Sadqain.
This was stated by Director Lahore Museum Mohammad Siddique who was talking to a delegation of teachers from different universities of Pakistan who visited Lahore Museum on Sunday.
Director Lahore Museum said the Punjab government was doing its level best to protect and restore the cultural heritage of the province. He said the Lahore Museum was the custodian of a rich historical treasure of art, culture and archaeology. He said the restoration work of Sadqain’s mural had been started at a cost of Rs. 15 million and this work would be completed by the local and international professionals. He said more than 80 percent galleries of the Lahore Museum had been upgraded, and the display of the artifacts had been improved by the Lahore Museum staff with domestic resources. He said that a new gallery named “Summit” had been established in Lahore City Heritage Museum, comprising photographs of the participants of the Islamic Summit held in Lahore.
He said the PC-I of digitalisation project of Museum Library had been approved and it would cost 1.75 crore. Mohammad Siddique further said that computerisation and cataloging work of artifacts of Lahore Museum was near completion. He said the revenue of Lahore Museum from different sources had increased compared to last year while the number of visitors had also increased. He said that keeping in view the present security scenario, effective security arrangements had been taken at the museum. He said that a pictorial book of masterpieces of Lahore Museum would soon be published.
