Exhibition on Pakistan at Redbridge Museum
A breathtaking exhibition exploring Pakistan rarely seen is currently on display at Redbridge Museum in East London. This latest event at the popular venue gives visitors the opportunity to take a broader look at life in Pakistan, documented through a series of stunning photographs. Titled ‘Pakistan through lens’ the exhibition features more than 50 images taken by a range of photographers. The photographs document Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and the breathtaking beauty of its landscape, highlighting the diversity of the country from ancient civilisations to modern day Karachi.The exhibition has brought together work from 25 contemporary photographers and aims to portray different sides of Pakistan to those usually presented in the media.
Images are divided into eight categories exploring clothing, political and cultural movements, rural aspects of life, work and culture, religion, urban and city life, festivals and sport, women, and landscapes.
The show emphasizes on an ethnically homogeneous, religiously tolerant and culturally diverse Pakistan.
The photographs have been sourced by photographer Sadia Malik.
The exhibition was earlier displayed in South Africa and the USA. After it ends on June 19, the photographs will be on show in different UK cities and at a later stage in Pakistan.
The east London district of Ilford where the museum is located has a large population of expatriate Pakistanis.
