Anjum’s sculptures go on display
ISLAMABAD: An exhibition of sculptures titled ‘Lazat-e-Sang’ by renowned Sculptor Anjum Ayaz started at National Art Gallery (NAG), Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Thursday.
Ayaz’s artworks on display included metal sculpture worked in Bronze and other works in all mediums and sizes with enormous variety and panache.
Born in 1949, Ayaz has been working in this discipline for over three decades. In the collection of the NAG, one finds representations of Ayaz’s metal sculpture worked in Bronze: Lonely Female, a circular composition and Finishing, that consists of a complex figurative piece with several components worked in the medium of metal.
Ayaz joined Karachi School of Art in 1966 and worked with Sadequain, who was his distant relative. After graduation, he eventually found his own style.
Ayaz carved and molded a number of pieces that stand between three and five feet high. He has a considerable experience of outdoor sculpture in various countries.
